Karla Ortega

Karla M. Ortega is the principal paralegal of The Downs Law Group. She joined the firm as a case coordinator in March of 2016. Shortly after joining, she became the manager of the BP Pre-Litigation Department. Karla’s passion to help others persuaded her to pursue her legal career in paralegal studies from the University of Miami in 2017. After becoming a certified paralegal, she continued to spearhead the pre-litigation department.

In 2019, Karla joined the BP Litigation Department. She is a value-driven lead paralegal with experience successfully supporting others and managing high caseloads. Her skills include adeptly navigating the management of client deadlines, communication among parties, streamlining processes, quality control, witness scheduling and document filings in federal and state courts.

Karla is well-versed with discovery, depositions, motion writing, trial preparation and has managed and created trial exhibits, trial notebooks, binders and more.
