Spotted on MichaelWestMedia, The Downs Law Group’s story has hit the press after sending a letter to the newly appointed CEO of CSIRO, Doug Hilton, alleging that global oil giant BP has manipulated the research of Australia’s national science agency.
The letter comes after gaining access to internal BP documents and communications that may demonstrate efforts to downplay environmental impacts of the 2010 Deepwater Horizon oil spill using possible ‘ghost written’ science.
We have requested that the CSIRO make public its employees’ communications with BP and BP’s legal counsel regarding the impacted studies, as well as details of any contracts between CSIRO and BP or BP’s legal counsel.
These allegations are serious. If true, they would represent a betrayal of public trust and a threat to scientific integrity. The CSIRO must take these allegations seriously and investigate them thoroughly.
