Old Smokey

“Old Smokey,” as it is colloquially called, was a municipal trash incinerator that operated in the segregated portion of Miami’s West Coconut Grove neighborhood for almost 50 years, beginning in 1926. Old Smokey was ultimately closed in 1970 after the City of Coral Gables, a predominately white neighborhood at the time, filed a nuisance lawsuit based on the fact that ash emitted from the Old Smokey incinerator was reaching its residents’ homes. The ash spewed across the community by the incinerator, and eventually buried across several West Coconut Grove parks, contained chemicals such dioxins, arsenic, lead and antimony – chemicals which are well-known to be harmful to human health. 3M Lawsuit

3M Claims

Suffer Hearing Loss or Tinnitus from Serving In The Military?

What are 3M Combat Arms Earplugs?

Minneapolis-based 3M manufactured these dual-ended earplugs for hearing protection from close range firearms and other loud impact noises. Due to the defective design, the earplugs can slightly loosen and subtly move out of the ear canal just enough for the loud sounds to cause hearing damage. According to reports, 3M knew of these design defects, but knowingly sold them to the US military from 2003-2015.

Servicemen, woman, and combat veterans have reported multiple side effects, including:

  • Hearing loss
  • Tinnitus, or ringing in the ears
  • Permanent hearing damage
  • Deafness

The law and the U.S. Government protects servicemen and women from dangerous and defective products that can cause unintended health consequences, such as hearing loss and tinnitus.
If you have suffered hearing loss or tinnitus as the result of defective earplugs that may have been fraudulently sold to the U.S. Military, a conversation with a knowledgeable attorney may be the most important things you do.

As a result of the manufacturer of the defective earplugs failing to properly disclose the known defects and product limitations, you or your loved one may have suffered hearing loss or tinnitus, subsequent disturbance to your normal living and work, along with unintended financial burdens.
As such, you may be entitled to financial compensation.

Roundup Lawsuit

Roundup Claims

Roundup, a weed killer used by gardeners, landscapers, and farmers alike has been found to cause cancer, including non-Hodgkin lymphoma and leukemia. In 2015, the World Health Organization’s International Agency for Research on cancer announced its findings that glyphosate-based herbicides, the most popular of which is Roundup, are “probable” carcinogens. Roundup has been in wide use in home and commercial settings in Florida and throughout the United States since the product was first released by Monsanto for sale in 1974. Believing it was safe, many Florida residents have inadvertently exposed themselves to the Roundup cancer risk at no fault of their own. If you or a loved one in Florida has suffered from a cancer diagnosis following exposure to Roundup, you may be eligible to file a Roundup cancer lawsuit. Monsanto Roundup lawsuits will serve to secure needed compensation for families harmed by Roundup cancer. Filing a claim is also a means for individual consumers to demand Monsanto take responsibility for consumer safety. When profits are at stake, it often takes the threat of signification litigation to force a large corporation to become a better corporate citizen. That citizen can be you!

Firefighting Foam Lawsuit

Firefighting Foam Claims

Firefighters Cancer Claims Settlement

Firefighting foams have become highly widespread due to their effectiveness extinguishing jet fuel and petroleum fires. Although great in fighting these types of fires, studies are now showing that it can cause kidney, testicular, and certain types of cancer in firefighters who were exposed to these types of foam. Known officially as aqueous film-forming foam (AFFF), firefighting foam creates a blanket that cuts off the fuel from the oxygen it needs to burn. To help smother the fire, chemicals known as perfluoroalkyl and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) were, and in some circumstances, still are used. The highly durable nature of PFAS means they do not break down over time, due to this, they may remain in the body for years.

Major health organizations like The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), United States Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), and the American Cancer Society (ACS) have noted that certain PFAS may be linked to cancer in firefighters.

The Navy and other branches of the military have used firefighting foam for decades, for training exercises and non-critical missions. It was so commonly use due to the ability to quickly extinguish jet fuel fires. However, the military is rapidly eliminating these types of foams.
